The tradition of meditating on death to more fully appreciate life has a long, rich history. The phrase "mementos mori" is Latin for "remember you must die," and you should check out the Wikipedia page on the history to grasp why it isn't a morbid thing... After all, it dates back to a time when Roman slaves reminded their masters after a victory that "Remember Caesar, thou art mortal."
